The Space Between Gravity and Silence: Behind Shattered Sky / Shinra Tensei

Today I’m releasing Shattered Sky / Shinra Tensei, a 15-track instrumental post-rock album about dynamic contrast, grief, and catharsis.

It began with an image that wouldn’t leave my mind: standing at the sheer, jagged edge of a crater, looking up into a sky that has been violently torn wide open. Those who know Naruto will recognize the words Shinra Tensei (神羅天征) — the divine force of repulsion that collapses an entire city into an abyss in a single heartbeat.

But this album was never meant to be a simple fan homage. It became a metaphor for the moments in human life when everything you know is dismantled in an instant. It is a story about grief, dynamic contrast, and the quiet catharsis that follows destruction.

Three Acts

Act I: The Gathering Storm (Tracks 1–4) — Restraint and tension. Clean, chorus-drenched guitars, distant Japanese dialogue samples, and slow drum grooves. In Quiet Before the Push and Konoha Rain, the ground hums but nothing has broken yet.

Act II: Shinra Tensei (Tracks 5–10) — The sky splits open. Shattered Sky and The World Shall Know Pain bring soaring delayed leads over distorted rhythms and sub-bass drops. Cosmic Impact is the album’s peak — raw, overwhelming, cathartic.

Act III: The Desolate Horizon (Tracks 11–12) — Decay and resolution. Distortion melts into shimmering reverb; The album closes with End of Heaven, leaving the listener under a quiet sky.

Human Intent Meets AI Augmentation

This album was also an experiment in modern production — composed and arranged through a hybrid process that blends my songwriting with generative AI tools for textures and soundscapes. For me, AI in art isn’t about replacing emotion; it’s about expanding the canvas. It let me render sounds — distant Japanese whisper samples, orchestral-scale guitar swells — that would otherwise have needed a full ensemble. The Ghibli-style watercolor visuals, AI-generated and animated via Vizzy.io, share that same intent: new tools in service of an old, melancholic feeling.

What I Hope You Take From It

Post-rock rewards patience — it builds a landscape instead of handing you a hook. I hope this album gives you room to breathe and feel the weight of its climax, and reminds you that even after the worst cataclysms, the dust settles and the sky remains vast.
